Granthi Singh, Bhai Saheb Amarjeet Singh Jee

Bhai Amarjeet Singh Jee joined the Sangat of North Carolina in 1995. He was part of the renowned Jatha of Ragi Gurmej Singh Jee. Ragi Gurmej Singh Jee served for many years as the person in charge of selecting Ragis for Harmandar Saheb in Amritsar. Bhai Amarjeet Singh Jee served at various Gurudwaras in Amritsar as well as accompanied Ragi Gurmej Singh Jee as part of the Hazoori Ragi Jatha of Harmandar Saheb.

Bhai Amarjeet Singh is an accomplished singer of Gurbani Ragas, and he has trained not only his two sons to sing but also many youth in our community. Bhai Saheb always volunteers his time and energy for all camps held at North Carolina, and the camp committee never feels the need to recruit an outside Keertan teacher. He has also taught several adults in our Sangat the art of Keertan as well. His own deep and personal understanding of Gurbani is obvious from listening to his Keertan. Bhai Saheb routinely makes an effort to improve his Keertan as well his Katha skills.

Bhai Saheb has ably managed all of Gurudwara programs in his capacity as a Granthi Singh at SGNC. He has steadfastly enforced Reht Maryada with regards to Guru Granth Saheb Jee. He preaches this Maryada consistently during his Katha during Keertan as well as when he translates the Hukam of Guru Saheb at the end of each program. SGNC management is proud to support Bhai Saheb for his practice and preaching of Reht Maryada at Gurudwara Saheb.

Finally, Sikh Faith does not have a title as "priest" as all Sikhs are expected to learn and practice their Sikh Faith and share their knowledge with their community. This eliminates a professional priest class that often serves as a go-between "God" and his subjects. Sikhs have a direct relationship with God through their Word Guru. Bhai Saheb Amarjeet Singh works full time outside of the Gurudwara Saheb to support his family, and SGNC compensates him only for his care taking duties at the Gurudwara Saheb as well as for the education he provides to our community.

Currently, Bhai Saheb's three sons, Manjit Singh, Surinderjit Singh, and Jatinderjit Singh, form his Kirtani Jatha. If you would like to invite Bhai Saheb Ji for a Keertan program at your home or would like to host a program at Gurudwara Saheb, please contact Gurudwara management and Bhai Saheb Ji.
